New Zealand Cricket Team suffered a massive defeat against England in the 1st Test match. Daryl Mitchell, the dashing right-handed batter was the only batter who looked in complete control during the 2nd innings while chasing 394 runs. Daryl Mitchell had come into the bat when New Zealand’s score was 14-2, he took his time as he scored 57 runs in 101 balls where he struck 6 fours & 2 sixes.

The mighty England Cricket Team would be over the moon as they won their first Test match in New Zealand since 2008. The skipper Ben Stokes & head coach Brendon McCullum at the moment look unstoppable where they are finding match-winners against the run of play.

Daryl Mitchell on 1st Test Match

Daryl Mitchell was having a media interaction where he was asked what went wrong for New Zealand in the 1st Test match.

“If you looked into that third innings, I think we had them six down for 230-240 – I’m not sure of the exact numbers – but if we had taken a couple of quick wickets, the game could have been a lot different.” said Daryl Mitchell.

“So, for us, it’s actually not too far away. It’s sticking true to who we are as Kiwis and Blackcaps, and what’s worked for us for a number of years now. Yeah, we are missing a couple of small moments now, which is disappointing, but we also know that’s the nature of Test cricket, and it’s not always going to go your way, and it can be a bloody hard game at times. But we also know we are not too far away.” he added.

Exciting Contest on Cards

The 2nd Test match is scheduled to start on 24th February at Wellington. The BlackCaps would be hoping that the former skipper Kane Williamson hits form as the batter has looked a bit scratchy. This Test series is not a part of the World Test Championship (WTC 2021-23) but is quite important for the next 2023-25 WTC cycle.

England’s ‘Bazball’ has been quite fruitful so far where every batter has been scoring runs & making an impact. The resurgence of Stuart Broad has meant that there is no added pressure on James Anderson. Skipper Ben Stokes’ captaincy has been spot on where he has rotated the bowlers smartly.
