On This Day: Hardik Pandya Recollects Memories of ODI Debut

Turning the clock back to 2016, today is the day when an all-rounder from Baroda donned the Indian Jersey for the first time in ODI format of the game. Later, he achieved tremendous records in two years of time and then made his way into the Test cricket as well. Yeah, you guessed it right, and he is none other than, Hardik Pandya.

It has been two years since Hardik Pandya made his debut in the ODI format of the game. It was against New Zealand at the picturesque Dharamsala, where he ended up receiving Man of the Match award as well.

A dream ODI debut – Hardik Pandya

The flamboyant cricketer posted a picture of him on the social media to share the news with his fans. He remarked it as the dream ODI debut, which furtherly paved the way for him to showcase his talent to the world.

It was a match when MS Dhoni was leading the Indian side against the Kiwis. The stunning three-wicket spell of Hardik saw Black Caps getting restricted to just 194 on the board, which got chased with the help of Virat Kohli’s unbeaten 85*.

After the match, Hardik Pandya quoted saying ”On a debut, getting the Man of the Match is special. This moment I will cherish in my life. Very happy. Good to be back, I was nervous a bit, but I bowled a lot in Australia and the domestic season. I wasn’t looking to bowl fast, wanted to bowl with rhythm. On this wicket, I was focusing on a Test match length, a good length.”

Meanwhile, digging into his Instagram post, it read ”On this day, in 2016, India vs New Zealand, Stepping out on the field wearing the India blue and putting up performance in a winning cause – A dream ODI debut!

However, it has been a great ride for Hardik Pandya as far as limited-overs format is concerned. Meanwhile, he is eyeing to make his mark in Test format of the game as well.
