Rohit Sharma could not guide Mumbai Indians to a win on his return to action as the defending champions suffered a crushing ten-wicket loss at the hands of SunRisers Hyderabad on Tuesday.
Asked to bat first, Mumbai Indians finished their innings on 149 for 8. Rohit Sharma could not make much of a mark on his comeback and was out for just 4 off 7 balls. Quinton de Kock started well and slammed 25 off just 12 balls before being sent back by Sandeep Sharma in the fourth over.

Suryakumar Yadav and Ishan Kishan then steadied the ship by adding 42 runs for the third wicket before Shahbaz Nadeem derailed Mumbai’s innings by dismissing the former and Krunal Pandya in the 12th over to reduce them to 81 for 4 from 81 for 2.
Mumbai kept losing wickets at regular intervals from thereon. They still managed to touch the 150-run mark only because of Kieron Pollard’s 25-ball 41 runs knock. For SRH, Sandeep Sharma picked three wickets while Jason Holder and Nadeem picked two apiece.
Rohit Sharma’s reaction:
Speaking at the end of the game, Rohit Sharma said his team’s performance against SRH was the worst of the season. He stated that the Mumbai Indians wanted to ‘try few things’ but failed to execute the plans.
“Not the day we want to remember, probably our worst performance of the season. We wanted to try a few things, it didn’t go our way. We knew dew was going to play a factor and we wanted to take the toss out of consideration, but we didn’t play good cricket today.
“We play at Wankhede where there’s dew in the second innings. You have to back your skills, and believe that you can get people out. They played good shots in the powerplay, and that helped them,” he added.

Rohit Sharma was quick to shift his focus towards the upcoming Qualifier against Delhi Capitals. Both the teams will take on each other on Thursday for a place in the final. Speaking about the game, Rohit said facing Delhi will be a good challenge for Mumbai.
“They (Delhi Capitals) are a good side, so it will be a good challenge to face them. You want to leave this performance as quickly as possible. We’ll get back to the drawing board and figure things out,” he concluded.
