England’s former middle-order batsman, Owais Shah said that former Australian legend, Glenn McGrath is the toughest bowler he has ever faced in his international career. Owais played for England from 2001 until 2009 and couldn’t scale the heights that he was destined to. He made his ODI debut in the year 2001 against Australia and had the privilege of playing against one of the greatest teams in cricketing history.
Glenn McGrath, Brett Lee, and Shane Warne were the bowlers who ruled international cricket when Owais made his debut. Owais went on to play 71 ODIs for England in his 8-year run in international cricket. His maiden ODI century came against India, wherein he went on to score 107 runs at Oval.
Owais Shah Names Glenn McGrath The Toughest Bowler He Ever Faced
Owais Shah has been very spot on with his choice as stats also favour his claims. In terms of total career wickets taken, McGrath is the second-most successful fast bowler of all time. He is behind James Anderson, and he is fifth on the all-time list, with the top three wicket-takers which includes Muttiah Muralitharan, Shane Warne and Anil Kumble. Mcgrath was known throughout his career for maintaining an accurate line and length.
He has also taken the seventh-highest number of ODI wickets (381) and holds the record for most wickets (71) in the World Cup. McGrath holds the record for dismissing the most batsmen for ducks in Test cricket as he has dismissed 104 batsmen. He was inducted into the ICC Hall of fame in January 2013.
Australia Were The Toughest Team To Face: Owais Shah
Speaking exclusively to CricketAddictor.com, Owais also claimed that the famous Australian side that ruled the world cricket for almost a decade was the toughest team to combat with on the field. Australia were a powerhouse of world cricket, and they went on to win three consecutive World Cups in 1996, 2003, and in 2007. They are considered to be one of the greatest ever teams to grace the field of cricket.
