New Zealand cricket commentator Simon Doull has denied claims of being tortured in Pakistan following controversial comments he made about Pakistani cricket captain Babar Azam during recent Pakistan vs New Zealand T20I series.

On Friday, a news article surfaced on social media, claiming that Simon Doull was “tortured” in Pakistan for his comments about Azam. The article also alleged that Doull had to issue a public apology for his comments.

However, Simon Doull has since taken to social media to clarify that the claims made in the article are completely false.  He added that he had received an overwhelming amount of support from Pakistani cricket fans and that he would love to return to Pakistan in the future.

Simon Doull had come under fire from Pakistani cricket fans and former players for his comments about Azam during the T20I series. “It’s sad when so-called news channels publish false stories that are made up from fake social media accounts. Please note: Absolutely None of this is true.
