Pakistan Fans Abuse Sarfaraz Ahmed, Call Him Mota Just Days After Being Lauded By Him
Just a few days ago, Pakistan skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed had lauded the fans of his country for being knowledgable cricket fans. In the wake of Virat Kohli asking the Indian fans not to boo Steve Smith for the ball-tampering scandal, Sarfaraz Ahmed had said that the Australia star would not face such hostility against Pakistan.
“I don’t think Pakistani people will do that,” Sarfaraz Ahmed had told reporters on the eve of that game. “Pakistani people love cricket, they love to support and they love the players.”
Well, Sarfaraz Ahmed would have never realised that his comment might come to haunt him. The under-pressure Pakistan skipper was slammed and abused by his own fans after the defeat against arch-rivals India on Sunday. India completely dominated the Men in Green to win the game by 89 runs.
Barring the toss, not much went Pakistan’s way in the game. India posted a massive total of 336 for 5 in the 50 overs. Opener Rohit Sharma was the star man with the bat, scoring 140. KL Rahul and Virat Kohli also impressed, scoring 57 and 77 respectively.
In reply, Pakistan failed to provide any sort of challenge to their formidable opponents. Barring the 104-run stand between Fakhar Zaman and Babar Azam, they never really looked in contention to chase down the total. They eventually finished on 212 for 6 in 40 overs, thus losing the game by 89 runs (DLS method).
Following the game, the Pakistan players are facing widespread criticism from their fans. But Sarfaraz is at the centre of all these criticism. The fans have berated Sarfaraz for his poor fitness. A video is now doing the round on social media where the fans were heard calling their skipper Mota because of his poor fitness. Sarfaraz also heard the taunts and looked back at the fans too but did not respond.
Here is the clip where the Pakistan fans called the wicketkeeper-batsman Mota.
