Former Pakistan fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar has questioned the performance of the Australian team. Australia has their backs against the wall as they are not able to challenge Pakistan in the Abu Dhabi Test. Pakistan is currently leading by a gargantuan margin of 536 runs in the final session of Day 3. Thus, Australia is not able to come up with good performances.

Meanwhile, Australia was struck hard by the ball-tampering scandal. Therefore, they are playing without the services of their talisman captain Steven Smith and David Warner. Hence, they were hit hard by the controversy.

Australia is going through a bad phase.

Shoaib Akhtar said it is painful to see such bleak performances from the Australian side. The Australian team has savored great success in the game and always give a run for the money to other teams. In fact, Australia was able to dominate the best of teams in every type of conditions.

They are the only side to savor five World Cup titles. However, their performance in the recent past has been disappointing.  Akhtar is also wondering that what has happened to the rich Australian culture of producing great players.

Meanwhile, Australia was somehow able to draw the first Test match at Dubai. However, they could not provide any fight in the second Test match at Abu Dhabi against Pakistan. Pakistan made 282 in the first innings after a good performance from Sarfraz Ahmed and Fakhar Zaman. However, Australia only made 145 in their first dig.

Pakistan is currently batting on 399-6, which means they lead by 535 runs. Thus, the hosts are in a dominating position.

Shoaib Akhtar took to Twitter to share his concern. Akhtar post read as, “Still remember the mighty Australian team playing against Pak back in 1999 giving us run for our money & now it’s really painful to see the performances of the weakest Australian team which is not right up there.
Just wondering what happened to rich Australian Cricket culture??”.
