Peshawar Zalmi owner hopes Darren Sammy to retain the PSL 2018 title

Reigning champions Peshawar Zalmi will be looking to retain the Pakistan Super League (PSL) trophy. Windies all-rounder Darren Sammy will lead the Peshawar-based outfit in the third season of the PSL 2018.

The glittery trophy was unveiled during a ceremony on Tuesday at Dubai International Stadium.

The third edition of the lucrative T20 PSL will be beginning from 22^nd February. Pertinently, Sammy replaced Shahid Afridi in the second edition of the league as a leader.

The first match will be played between the defending champions Peshawar Zalmi and the new entrant Multan Sultans.

The tournament will be a six-team affair for the first time in two years.

In the pre-draft, the Sultans snapped the likes of Shoaib Malik, Kieron Pollard and Kumar Sangakkara

Former Australian cricketer Tom Moody will guide the Sultans. However, Malik has been appointed as the captain of the Sultans.

The franchise is owned by Javed Afridi, who is the CEO of Haier Pakistan. Haier Pakistan is the subsidiary of China-based home appliances company.

Javed posted a picture of Darren Sammy literally hugging the trophy. He wished him all the best for the upcoming season.
