The ongoing fiasco between veteran cricketer Mithali Raj and Indian Women’s Cricket Team head coach is getting sour with every passing day. Following the blame game from both the sides, it is likely that Powar is unlikely to get an extension of his contract as the head coach.

Meanwhile, Powar received flaks from fans and experts after leaving out Mithali of India’s semi-final clash against England at the recently-concluded Women’s World T20. And now, the BCCI officials also seemed not too happy with the ongoing episode which has hit the morale of the team.

His contract with the BCCI ends on November 30 (Friday), and the decision not to continue with him comes after Mithali’s harsh accusations against him of trying to ‘destroy her game,’ and humiliating her during the tournament in the Carribean.

Powar’s conflict with Mithali has ensured that he can’t continue as the coach of India,” TOI reported.

Mithali Raj struck back to back fifties in the tournament before the management dropped her from the side. The official also added that Powar should have consulted Mithali Raj before taking the call of dropping her from the team.

Powar should have spoken to Mithali instead of dropping her straightaway after a phone call from Mumbai on the day of the match. This isn’t cricket,” the report adds.

Previously, Mithali had termed the day as the darkest one in her career after Powar in his letter to BCCI alleged that the former Indian captain blackmailed him and threatened to retire. Powar had also termed Mithali as someone he found very difficult to handle.
