Nearly a year after James Anderson had shredded a picture of Ravichandran Ashwin, the India spinner has taken a sly dig at the England pace spearhead. Ravichandran Ashwin had faced the heat from several quarters when he chose to ‘Mankad’ Jos Buttler in Kings XI Punjab’s opening IPL 2019 match against Rajasthan Royals.

A number of former and present cricketers had lashed out at the India spinner for the act that is legal but is widely regarded as unsportsmanlike. But while most of the critics resorted to verbal attack, James Anderson had decided to slam the spinner in a different way.

In a video that had gone viral on social media, James Anderson was seen taking an image of  Ravichandran Ashwin and running it through a paper shredder – thereby metaphorically ripping him to bits. And almost a year after that incident, Ravichandran Ashwin took a dig at the pacer for his infamous act.

It all started when James Anderson took to Twitter to ask the ICC to remove the Mankad law in the wake of the incident that took place during the quarterfinal clash between Pakistan and Afghanistan in the U19 World Cup. Afghanistan’s Noor Ahmad had decided to Mankad Pakistan’s Mohammad Huraira in the game and is now inviting criticism from all around.

“Can we sort out (remove) this law please @ICC #MCC??,” wrote Anderson on Twitter. Ravichandran Ashwin was quick to notice the tweet and could not help but take a dig at the England star. He cheekily said that a shredder might do the trick for the time being, writing:

“Law removal might need some deliberation!! A Shredder might do the trick for now???”
