Bangladesh players raised a number of eyebrows with their behaviour in the just-concluded final of the ICC U19 World Cup against India. While aggression is an integral part of the game, the Bangladesh players perhaps crossed the fine line between being aggressive and being indiscipline.

Right from the start of the game, they showed needless aggression and tried to get under the skin of the Indian players. As early as in the second over of the match, Tanzim Hasan Sakib picked up the ball and threw it towards Divyaansh Saxena after the India opener tapped the ball back to the bowler. It was followed by a bit of staring and mouthing-off before the umpire intervened.

Similarly when Yashasvi Jaiswal was dismissed for a well-made 88, bowler Shoriful Islam couldn’t resist giving the batsman an animated send-off. And all hell broke lose at the end of the game as the players were involved in physical altercation. As per reports, Bangladesh players were at fault once again as they were the ones who started it all.

But while the behaviour of the Bangladesh players might have invited criticism from all around, India spin ace Ravichandran Ashwin sees it in a different way. Ravichandran Ashwin took to Twitter to laud Bangladesh for the win and was all praise for their aggression in the game. The off-spinner opined that Bangladesh players meant business right from the start instead of criticising their behaviour, tweeting:

“Well done Bangladesh on winning the under 19 World Cup, it looked like a team that meant business from the very first ball.”

As far as the match is concerned, Bangladesh won by three wickets after bowling out India for 177. They were reeling at 102 for 6 but their captain Akbar Ali’s unbeaten 43 took them home comfortably in the end.
