Team India have finally managed to pull the brakes after West Indies top-order got off to a flying start at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. Ravindra Jadeja and Rishabh Pant combined well to get the better of Brandon King, who looked in blistering form and was the anchor-in-chief for the visiting team after India asked them to bat first.
Virat Kohli was quick to opt for a chase after he won the toss in Hyderabad, but West Indies made full use of the opportunity to get a fantastic start. Deepak Chahar, who is currently in the form of his life after claiming a hat-trick against Bangladesh and doing well in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, provided India with an early breakthrough removing Lendl Simmons in first over.

Ravindra Jadeja provides a crucial breakthrough
But West Indies cut loose soon after with Evin Lewis taking the attack to the opposition. Brandon King also joined the party soon freeing his arm as they both belted the short pitch deliveries out of the park. But Washington Sundar against the run of play got the better of the southpaw (40 off 17 balls) to bring India back in the game. Virat Kohli was quick to deploy his spinners as the host sensed some blood and Ravindra Jadeja stepped up to the task to have West Indies at 101 for three.
Jadeja used his brain to perfection as he dragged the length when he saw the batsman coming down the track. With a bit of grip and deviation from the surface, the ball beats Brandon King’s swinging willow as Rishabh Pant does the rest behind the stumps. King adjusted well to such a delivery from Sundar earlier, but the slight turn on this Jadeja’s delivery defeated him.
