Just when India was looking beyond Ravindra Jadeja in the limited-overs format, the all-rounder proved his credentials by striking six sixes in an over en route to a blistering century on the opening day of the Saurashtra Cricket Association (SCA) inter-district T20 tournament.

Playing for Jamnagar district, the left-handed batsman slammed 154 off just 69 balls to power his side to a mammoth total of 239 for 6 in the allotted 20 overs in their opening game at the Saurashtra Cricket Association ‘B’ ground in Rajkot. In reply,  Amreli could score only 118 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in 20 overs.

Jadeja, who opened the batting with Divyaraj Chauhan, remained on the crease till the 19th over before being dismissed. Off-spinner Nilam Vamja bore the brunt of Jadeja’s onslaught as he ended up conceding six sixes in the fifteenth over. Vamja finished the game with figures of 48  runs in two overs. Meanwhile, Jadeja scored 120 off his 154 runs in boundaries – 15 fours and 10 sixes.

The latest knock, meanwhile, will not only boost Jadeja’s confidence but will also make the selectors consider him for the limited-overs format again. An indispensable part of the Test team, Jadeja has not been selected in the limited-overs since the tour of West Indies which came after his poor display in the Champions Trophy. He along with his Test spin partner Ravichandran Ashwin has not donned the blue jersey since the West Indies tour with the team-management pinning its hopes on the likes of Axar Patel, Yuzvendra Chahal, and Kuldeep Yadav. Jadeja was recalled into the side during the series against Australia but only as an injury replacement and could not play a single game.
