Earlier, Royal Challengers Bangalore won the toss and opted to field first and they made one change in the playing XI as Rajat Patidar replaced Anuj Rawat in the team, which led to Faf du Plessis opening the innings with Virat Kohli. On the other hand, Rajasthan Royals made a couple of changes in the playing XI as Daryl Mitchell replaced Karun Nair and Kuldeep Sen replaced Obed McCoy in the team.
Shahbaz Ahmed opened the attack for Royal Challengers Bangalore against Rajasthan Royals’ opening duo of Jos Buttler and Devdutt Padikkal and he conceded just 5 runs in the over.
Mohammed Siraj came up to bowl the second over and on the very first delivery, Devdutt Padikkal smashed him for a six but on the 4th delivery the pacer made a comeback and dismissed RR opener for 7. However, Siraj ended up conceding 14 runs in the over as No.3 batter Ravichandran Ashwin smashed two back-to-back fours.
Josh Hazlewood bowled the third over and gave away just 6 runs and Siraj ended Ashwin’s 17 runs cameo in the 4th over with a short ball and conceded 8 runs.
In the 5th over Josh Hazlewood cleaned up dangerous Jos Buttler for 8 and delivered a wicket maiden over. In the 6th over Wanindu Hasaranga conceded 10 runs and at the end of the powerplay, RR were at 43/3.
The next few overs were decent for RR before Hasaranga came to bowl the 10th over as on the third ball he dismissed skipper Sanju Samson, who scored 27 runs off 21 balls, including 3 sixes and 2 fours and at the end of the 10th over Rajasthan Royals were at 69/4. Also, this was the 5th time in 23 balls in T20 cricket that Wanindu Hasaranga dismissed Samson.
The Rajasthan Royals overseas players Daryl Mitchell and Shimron Hetmyer failed to make any big contributions for the team as the former got out for 16 runs off 24 balls and the latter got out for 3 runs off 7 balls.
In the end, 20-year-old Riyan Parag scored 56 runs off 31 balls, including 3 fours and 4 sixes. He smashed a six off Harshal Patel’s last delivery of the 20th over to help Rajasthan Royals post 144/8 on the board while batting first.
Chasing the target, Royal Challengers Bangalore lost the wicket of out-of-form Virat Kohli in the second over itself. Faf du Plessis and Rajat Patidar batted cautiously in the next few overs and at the end of the powerplay, they were at 37/1. Young pacer Kuldeep Sen produced a two-wicket over in the 7th over by dismissing Faf du Plessis and Glenn Maxwell. Ashwin dismissed Rajat Patidar in the 10th over and at the end of the 10th over Royal Challengers Bangalore were at 58/4.
In the end, finisher Dinesh Karthik got out for 6, Shahbaz Ahmed got out for 17 and Wanindu Hasaranga got dismissed for 18 and Royal Challengers Bangalore faced their 4th defeat in the Indian Premier League 2022.
Here’s How Twitter Reacted To The IPL 2022 Clash Between RCB and RR:
Rajasthani Royal form continues. Even if score is 150 that’s enough for this bowling unit. They are finding a way to take advantage of the pitch which offers a minimal help for bowlers. #kuldeepsen #Ashwin #prasidhkrishna

#RiyanParag fifty was already a fine knock under pressure. But, after the way RCB big names struggled in #RRVSRCB game, his match winning innings became even more special. #CricketTwitter

#RajasthanRoyals will be very proud of this win. And I'm afraid this is going to hurt #RCB more than the 68 all out.

Vintage RCB is back ???
— Harish Bishnoi (@HarishB52498075) April 26, 2022
RCB should be very disappointed with this result. At one stage, they could have forced a big win which would have improved their net run rate, but they have lost this match by 29 runs instead.
They should have certainly chased this score with Harshal at 9.

Rajasthan Royals beat RCB by 29 runs. What a win by RR. At one 33/3, 110/7 from there to win this match by 29 runs is amazing. What an incredible effort by Sanju Samson and co. Well done, Rajasthan Royals.
