It has been a brilliant season for Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli as a batsman. However, their scintillating form didn’t help the Indian National Cricket Team to lift the ICC World Cup 2019. But, soon after the conclusion of India’s campaign, the rumours surrounded with alleged rifts between Rohit Sharm and Virat Kohli. Now, finally, the head coach Ravi Shastri reacts on the scenario.

Speaking to Gulf News, the head coach Ravi Shastri revealed that he wants different opinions from his players and difference of opinions are bound to be there when planning strategies but labelling it as utter nonsense.

Ravi Shastri also questions why Rohit Sharma would score five centuries in the world cup and why the duo has got those brilliant partnerships in the middle for the team. He added that the news like those is utter nonsense, which is a waste of time and energy.

“Listen, I have been around the dressing room for the last five years. I have seen how the boys have played and how they have complimented the team and know their work ethics. I feel it is absolute nonsense. And also, I have been there with them and I know the way they play. If that was the case why would Rohit get five hundred in the World Cup? Why would Virat do what he is doing? How would they have partnerships together,” Shastri told Gulf News.

Strategies must be encouraged –

Shastri also said that the atmosphere in the dressing room allows players to pitch their ideas for the improvement of the team. Further, we went on to add saying that in a squad of 15 players, there were bound to be differences in opinions. He believes that difference of strategies will help the team to do the best.

“In a side when you have 15 players there will always be times when there will be opinions that will be different. That is what is needed. I don’t want everyone toeing the same line. You have got to have discussions and someone might then think of a fresh strategy which has to be encouraged. So you have to give the guys the opportunity to express themselves and then decide what is best,” he further added.

Well, despite the statement from Ravi Shastri looks positive, the recent set of scenarios displays another story. Rohit Sharma, Ritika Sajdeh and Anushka Sharma unfollowed each other on social media, which created a ruckus in the recent past. However, Virat Kohli still follows Rohit Sharma on Instagram.
