Well, it was quite a tour for Rishabh Pant to Australia. He has garnered huge praises for his exceptional display of batting skills and also on the headlines for his chirping behind the wickets. His heroics in the game has made him the ICC emerging cricketer of the year 2018 as well. Meanwhile, Ricky Ponting compares him to Adam Gilchrist.

After his heroics in the Test series in Australia, Rishabh Pant is being widely regarded as one of the rising stars of the Indian cricket team. In 7 innings, the left-handed batsman struck 350 runs at an average of 58.33, including an unbeaten 159 at SCG.

Rishabh Pant could play a lot of Test Cricket for India – Ricky Ponting

Further, the former cricketer compared Rishabh Pant to Adam Gilchrist, who got a similar style while whacking it out for the team. And also, Ponting quoted that Rishabh would surpass the records of Mahendra Singh Dhoni in batting and wicketkeeping, as Pant has quite a few years left with him.

“He is a real talent and an incredibly good ball striker. Pant has got a really good game sense as well. He is someone who could play a lot of Test cricket for India across formats. He has got to do a bit of work on his keeping and he will also become a better batsman,” Ponting was quoted as saying by the ICC website on Tuesday.

“We talk about MS Dhoni all the time and his impact on Indian cricket. He played a lot of Tests for India but made only six Test hundreds. This kid will make a lot more Test hundreds than that. We talk about him in the commentary box and he is sort of like another Adam Glichrist,” he added.

Well, as Ricky Ponting said, Rishabh Pant has got the required time and the talent in him to make things happen for India. If he continues to be in the same form, he can easily re-write the records for a wicketkeeper-batsman in the world cricket.
