Who Does Roger Federer Follow for Cricket?

Swiss international Roger Federer is one of the greatest tennis players of all time. He has bagged 20 Grand Slam titles and had 96 career ATP titles to his name. He recently won his second successive Australian Open title and is set to play Rotterdam next week.

The 36-year old has greatness written all over him when it comes to tennis, but who does he follow for cricket? Well, Federer follows only one cricketer on the micro-blogging site Twitter, and that is former Indian batsman Sachin Tendulkar.

A mutual admiration club

Tendulkar is a legendary figure in the game of cricket and holds numerous records. Sachin has 100 international centuries to his name and has scored more than 34,000 runs across all the formats of the game. He and Federer are part of a mutual admiration club.

The Indian sportsman has been following the tennis star for ages and usually makes it to the Wimbledon.

“It’s always special to be here and always been a big fan of tennis, and it is no better than Wimbledon,” the legendary batsman once said at an event.

“Been watching Roger for the last ten years. So, here I am again to support Roger. I think the whole world admires Roger the sportsman and tennis player. But I know Roger personally, and I admire him more as a person. I think he is a very down to earth and humble man. It’s always nice to be around him,” he said.

On the other hand, Federer heaps praise on the ‘master-blaster’ every time the latter gets mentioned. He once revealed he prefers picking Tendulkar when it comes to video games.

“Sachin Tendulkar is the Indian sportsperson I admire the most. I met him when he visited Wimbledon. He was a lot of fun to talk to – and he is a legend. Whenever I play cricket video games, I always pick Sachin as my batsman.”
