Only a couple of days ago Mitchell McClenaghan highlighted that India has been performing admirably well despite the likes of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma struggling to get runs. Well the cricketing gods, seem to have granted his wish, as Rohit Sharma broke yet another record in the third T20 against New Zealand in Hamilton.

As evident, Team India relies a lot on its experienced players such as Kohli and Rohit. The captain and vice-captain of the team have so far failed to impress in the last two outings in New Zealand.

India won the opening two games with the help of young guns like Shreyas Iyer and Jasprit Bumrah. In the third, T20 though, they’ve had help from one of the members of the old guard.

Rohit Sharma joins Sehwag, Sachin, and Gavaskar in an illustrious club:

After a blistering start to the game, Rohit scored 65 runs off 40 balls and crossed yet another milestone in the process. He has now become only the fourth Indian opener to score 10,000-plus runs in international cricket.

A player who began his career in the national team playing down the order has thrived ever since he has been promoted to an opener in 2013.

Rohit has now joined the likes of Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag, and Sunil Gavaskar in the illustrious list of openers.

The Men in Blue look poised to clinch the series after posting a total of 179 runs in 20 overs courtesy of brilliant innings from Rohit at the top.

The right-handed batsman has now scored 10,017 runs in international cricket. Ahead of him in the pecking order are some true legends like Sunil Gavaskar (12,258 runs), Sachin Tendulkar (15,335 runs), and Virender Sehwag (15,758 runs).

Rohit was also the top scorer from the Indian team in the ODI World Cup 2019, and as a fan, it’s really exciting to see him get on his groove ahead of 2020, T20 World Cup, in Australia.
