Rohit Sharma Admits To Know Of The Team Combination Only After Reaching The UAE

Mumbai Indians has been one of the best-performing sides in the last few years. Under Rohit Sharma, the franchise has taken their game to a whole new level, having won four titles since 2013 and winning their latest last year. And their team combination, which boasts of a solid blend of young and experienced players, has been a significant factor and stepping up at crucial junctures. Rohit Sharma’s innovative captaincy deserves equal recognition too.

In the last couple of years, Mumbai Indians has brought together several young guns from the domestic circuit that have displayed incredible performances. Prominent examples include the likes of Rahul Chahar, Suryakumar Yadav, and Ishan Kishan. The likes of Rohit Sharma, Kieron Pollard, Hardik Pandya, and Lasith Malinga have guided the youngsters well too and pushed them.

Suryakumar Yadav joined Mumbai Indians in 2018 and amassed comfortably over 400 runs for them in two seasons. Leg-spinner Rahul Chahar played 13 matches last season and bagged as many wickets averaging 23.69. The 13 wickets that Chahar bagged arrived with an economy rate of 6.55. In the auction conducted for the upcoming season, the Rohit Sharma-led team went for a few domestic players, which they will look to use in good effect.

Ahead of the 13th edition of the extravaganza, the skipper mentioned that they would know of the team combination once they reach the UAE. Rohit added that it would be imperative to give youngsters a chance and give exposure and ensure they are under no pressure while playing.

We’ll know of team combinations after reaching UAE. You need to give confidence to the younger players, some of them haven’t played the IPL before, don’t have international exposure. I need to make sure they are in the best zone, not pressurised by the moment and get those little performances from everyone,” Rohit told ESPN Cricinfo.
