The right-handed batsman was the lone warrior in New Zealand’s previous Test series versus Australia, and in his 100th Test match, Taylor would be gunning to go out and whack a couple of big shots.

The 35-year-old has been in good touch lately, helping the Black Caps win 3-0 in the ODI series.

He would want to keep the momentum going, considering that the two-match Test series versus India is a big opportunity for the Kiwis to add to their tally in the ICC World Test Championship.

New Zealand are sixth in the points table, with sixty points, while the visitors are at the top, with 360 points, having won all their seven matches so far.

Talking about the first Test, the hosts had earlier won the toss and asked India to bat first.

The first day’s play has been called off due to another spell of rain. India managed to score 122 for five in 55 overs.
