SA vs AUS 2018: Dean Elgar to Bat in 2nd Innings Despite Dislocated Finger

Gutsy South African batsman, Dean Elgar, is scheduled to take the guard in the second innings of the Durban Test match.
The Protean sustained an injury to his hand while taking a diving catch off Mitchell Starc on Saturday.
The left-hander opted out of the field to tend his injured finger. Elgar, apparently, dislocated his finger while trying to complete the catch.
Dean Elgar immediately left the field without even a celebration, looking at the seriousness of the injury. The 30-year old is renowned for his grit and determination coupled with his ungraceful-yet-effective style of play.

Even in the second innings of the Jo’burg Test match, after being hit on the head, Elgar decided to come back the following day. The South African almost played the entire day, taking his country to a possible victory.
Body blows spurs Elgar on
“Dean is a tough cookie. He was really keen to go back out there and to bat. There’s no concern about him,” quoted the South African assistant coach, Malibongwe Maketa.
Australians, post their efforts in the second innings, already took a lead of over 400 in the 1st Test match. They are already on the driving seat, and the hosts would dearly want a gritty knock from their top order batsmen.

Of course, the Proteas are renowned for their fourth innings efforts against Australia. In fact, during the 2002 Durban Test between the two heavyweights of Test cricket, South Africa did manage to pull off a chase over 320.
“It puts me in a different mindset, It’s like the challenge is a little bit more. I guess only an opening batsman could see it that way,” suggested Dean Elgar, while claiming that body blows spurs him on, according to Espncricinfo.
