Sachin Tendulkar may have retired seven years ago but the discussion around the greatness of the ‘God of Cricket’ refuses to die. And, why should it? Tendulkar, during his 24-year-old career enthralled the cricketing folklore with his outrageous talent, relentless grit, impeccable character, and penchant for scoring runs and runs and more runs.

Former Pakistan tearaway fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar had a plethora of memorable battles with the Master Blaster throughout his career. Who can forget the way Shoaib got Sachin out during the 1999 Asian Test Championship at the Eden Gardens or the hammering that he received at the hands of the ‘God of Cricket’ four years later at Centurion during the World Cup encounter between the arch-rivals?

Tendulkar is often compared to Virat Kohli, who in the past decade has broken a plethora of records of his idol and is primed to break a few more in years to follow, but according to the ‘Rawalpindi Express’, it is unfair to compare Sachin with Virat since the former played in one of the toughest era of cricket where every team had at least two match-winning bowlers.

Akhtar also reckoned that Tendulkar would have hit more than 1.30 lakh runs, had he played in the current era.

“Tendulkar batted in the toughest era of cricket. If he had to get the chance now, he may hit more than 1.30 lakh runs. So, it’s not good to make a comparison between Sachin and Kohli,” Akhtar was quoted as saying in Cricket Pakistan.

Interestingly, Sachin Tendulkar had recently taken a dig at the new rules such as the use of two white-balls and just four fielders outside the 30-yard circle during the middle-overs after the Twitter handle of the ICC had posted about him and Sourav Ganguly being the most prolific opening pair in ODI cricket.

Tendulkar had proceeded to ask his former opening partner Sourav Ganguly, the number of runs they’d have scored under the current rules, to which Dada has responded by saying that they would have got at least 3000 more runs.
