India’s best cricketing son, Sachin Tendulkar has recently in a chat show revealed how he identified a leader in Mahendra Singh Dhoni.
Meanwhile, Dhoni is arguably India’s best skipper ever leading the team to three International Cricket Council (ICC) titles.
Under his leadership, India won the 2007 ICC Twenty20 World Cup, 2011 ICC Cricket World Cup, and 2013 ICC Champions Trophy.
Moreover, during his 10-year stint as a captain, Dhoni has earned many accolades for his nation. However, time and again, Dhoni reckons that Tendulkar played the most pivotal role in his selection for the role.
The Master Blaster in the form of Tendulkar was recently present at a chat show with Gaurav Kapoor, ‘Breakfast with Champions’. Sachin revealed the true story how did it actually took place.
Sachin reveals the story –
Host Gaurav reminded the viewers and Sachin saying that Dhoni has always referred to the legendary batter as a huge supporter of him being the leader of the Indian Cricket Team.
Recollecting those days, Sachin Tendulkar relived the true story of how he identified a leader in him.
“Whenever I used to be fielding in the slips, I would be discussing with him, constantly, about the fielding positions. I would place my opinions and then he would place his and it was during these interactions that I picked,” Sachin said during a BWC show.
Meanwhile, Dhoni was 26-year-old when he took over the reigns of the Indian team. He opted out of the Test responsibilities in December 2014 to make way for Virat Kohli.
Three years later, he stepped down from the limited-overs captaincy to play solely as a player.
Further, Dhoni is on a roll leading the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the Indian Premier League (IPL). He has led the team from the front and is currently at the second spot in the points table.
The Super Kings will face the Rajasthan Royals (RR) on May 11 at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium.
