Sachin Tendulkar, Virat Kohli Lead Cricketing Fraternity's Wishes For Kapil Dev After Heart Attack

The cricketing fraternity has wished a speedy recovery to Kapil Dev after the legendary cricketer suffered a heart attack and had to be hospitalised. The former India skipper was admitted to the hospital after he complaint of chest pain.

The 61-year-old legendary cricketer underwent angioplasty and he is said to be in a stable condition now. Fortis Escorts Hospital in Delhi has released a statement about the cricket legend’s health and confirmed that his condition is stable and he will be discharged in couple of days.

“Cricketer Kapil Dev came to Fortis Escorts Heart Institute (Okhla Road) emergency department at 1:00 am on 23rd October with a complaint of chest pain. He was evaluated and an emergency coronary angioplasty was performed in the middle of the night,” read the statement from the hospital.

“Currently, he is admitted in ICU and under close supervision of Dr Atul Mathur and his team. Kapil Dev is stable now and he is expected to get discharged in a couple of days,” the statement added.

The unfortunate news, nonetheless, prompted an outpouring of support towards the former India captain. Eminent names from the Indian cricketing fraternity took to Twitter to wish Kapil Dev a speedy recovery.

Kapil Dev is one of the greatest cricketers to have graced the game. During an illustrious career spanning 16 years, he played 131 Tests and 225 ODIs and is regarded as one of the finest allrounders the game has seen along with contemporary greats like and Imran Khan, Ian Botham and Richard Hadlee.

He scored 5248 Test runs at 31/05 and claimed 434 wickets at 29.64. In ODIs, Kapil Dev scored 3783 runs at 23.79 and took 253 wickets at 27.45. His finest moment came in 1983 when he led India to their first-ever World Cup title. India had defeated the mighty West Indies in the final.
