Sam Curran and Craig Overton who plays for Surrey and Somerset, respectively in the County Championship got added to the England squad for the last two ODI’s against Australia at Emirates Riverside and Emirates Old Trafford.
The duo got included to bolster the fast bowling options for the hosts. England had played some exceptional brand of cricket in the series so far and had already taken an unassailable 3-0 lead in the series.
England is conscious of the fact that the workload of their fast bowlers should be managed well. There was a just a gap for the day between the 3rd and the 4th ODI against Australia. With the series against India also coming up pretty soon, England will be worried about their man management, and hence the inclusions were made.
The team management might look to bring in some changes for the last two ODI’s against Australia. Meanwhile, Tom Curran and Jake Ball are the two other spare seamers in the squad. They are also in the mix to play.

Curran and Overton were supposed to play for the Lions against India A and Windies A in a tri-series which begins on 22nd June.
However, he now got picked for the remainder of the series. Curran has also been named as a part of the English T20 squad.
Curran or Overton is yet to play an ODI for England
Neither Curran nor Overton had played for England in ODI’s. However, both have represented their nation in the longest format of the game. Overton was part of the ODI squad against New Zealand but didn’t manage to play a game. Meanwhile, this is the first call-up for Curran in the limited-overs format.
If both the Currans play together in either of the two games, it will be the first brothers to make an England appearance. The last brother duo to play for England was Ben and Adam Hollioake in 1999.
