SunRisers Hyderabad seamer Sandeep Sharma is amongst the bowlers, who have hugely shone in the current edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Sandeep Sharma replaced the injured Bhuvneshwar Kumar as the SunRisers Hyderabad’s spearhead, filling the void to great effect so far. Former Australian cricketer Brad Hogg has been impressed with the Punjab-born cricketer.

In 11 matches so far, Sandeep Sharma has 13 scalps at 24.84 while maintaining an economy rate of 7.34. The right-arm seamer played significant roles in SunRisers’ last two victories against Royal Challengers Bangalore and Mumbai Indian that carried them to the playoffs for the fifth consecutive year. He bounced out RCB captain Virat Kohli and Devdutt Padikkal, finishing with figures of 4-0-20-2, earning him the man of the match award.

Against the Mumbai Indians, Sandeep was once again in business as his variations were invaluable on the sluggish wicket in Sharjah. Before bouncing back from a flurry of boundaries to rearrange Quinton De Kock’s stumps, the 27-year old deceived Rohit Sharma for David Warner to catch the ball. At the back end, he took the crucial wicket of Ishan Kishan.

Brad Hogg hailed the ‘underrated’ Sandeep Sharma for standing up in a crucial game, proving that he deserves the highest honour by covering the loss of Bhuvneshwar Kumar. Hogg reckons that Sandeep’s consistency is the most impressive thing in IPL 2020 when asked by a fan on Twitter.

In four overs, he claimed wickets of 4-0-34-3, helping the SunRisers restrict the defending champions for 149. David Warner and Wriddhiman Saha chased down 150 with ten wickets to spare. The Orange Army will lock horns with Royal Challengers Bangalore on Friday in Sharjah in the eliminator.
