Defending champions Mumbai Indians are currently the table-toppers in IPL 2020 with seven victories out of the 11 games played. On Wednesday, Mumbai Indians will face the Royal Challengers Bangalore, who are also on the same boat and one of them will qualify for the knockouts. Nevertheless, batsman, Saurabh Tiwary is not overly concerned with their two super-over losses and instead sees a sliver lining in the same.

Mumbai Indians strangely ended up on the losing side in the two super-over games they were involved in. The first one they suffered to Royal Challengers Bangalore in Dubai when Virat Kohli and AB De Villiers scored ten runs to beat them. The second one was a dramatic clash against Kings XI Punjab at the same venue when the defending champions could not go over the line despite two super overs.

Saurabh Tiwary, who has scores of 42, 21, 34 in his three innings, underlined that the losses in super overs imply that they are playing good cricket. Their victory-margins are good due to which they have a superior net run-rate as well. The southpaw pointed out that Mumbai Indians want to finish in the top two but conceded that first, they want to qualify for the playoffs. They will take one thing at a time. Tiwary has replaced Rohit Sharma for the last two games since the regular captain has suffered an injury to his left hamstring.

We don’t feel like it’s a practice season. it feels like we are playing a proper match. We had faced two defeats in Super Over and this shows the good cricket we have been playing. When we are winning then the margins are good and that is why out NRR is also very good. The target for us is to finish in top-two. The first stage for us is to qualify and the second is to qualify in top-2. We are in the first stage but our eyes are set on the second stage as well. We will keep assessing the targets as and when we achieve each target. Touchwood, let us just take one step at a time,” Tiwary stated as quoted by India Today.

The 30-year old further mentioned that the atmosphere around the team is excellent and their fruitful results are due to their continuous productive practice sessions. Saurabh Tiwary observed that their players are not dependent on the other, which he believes is a wonderful sign. The Bihar-born cricketer remains confident that their batting is in good shape, courtesy of their practice sessions.

The best thing is that we are winning. The way we are practising and given the atmosphere here, you can’t really ask for anything better. We have been in great nick the whole season and the reason behind it is the practice we have been doing. Be it here in UAE or in Mumbai. Our biggest quality is that nobody is dependent on the other, which is a great sign. I played two matches and got injured and now I have got few matches again. Touchwood, the batting has been fine and the reason behind is it the practice we are doing,” he added.
