Karachi Kings player and all-rounder Shahid Afridi has been ruled out of the Pakistan Super League eliminator due to a knee injury. Kings’ have called in Mukhtar Ahmed, Zulfiqar Babar and Danish Aziz who have already joined the squad.
Afridi was ruled out for at least ten days on 2nd March after reports revealed swelling in his knee. However, the flamboyant cricketer did not take a break due to which the condition of his knee worsened. Karachi will face Peshawar Zamli in the 2nd eliminator.
Moreover, Captain Imad Wasim’s availability is also a doubt ahead of the 2nd eliminator, and his unavailability will be a big blow for the team.
Imad suffered a concussion after he fell while taking a catch during a match against Lahore Qalandars on 11th March.
The team will take a final decision on Imad’s availability on Wednesday after a final assessment. Eoin Morgan who led the team in his absence has not travelled to Pakistan, and another English man Ravi Bopara will lead the side if Wasim is ruled out of the important tie.
The injury list does not end here; Tamim Iqbal who just joined Peshawar Zalmi’s squad will also remain unavailable for the match due to a knee injury. He will fly to Bangkok for an assessment and might come back for the final if he is fit.
The winner of the match will face Islamabad United in the final of the PSL to be played in Karachi’s national stadium on 25th March.
