Bangladesh coach Steve Rhodes has rated Shakib Al Hasan as the best tactical captain he has worked with. Hasan has done a fine job for the Tigers in the recent past and has performed consistently for them. The talisman all-rounder also had a good record while leading Bangladesh. Hasan has come up with goods with both bat as well as the ball.

Meanwhile, Shakib Al Hasan is currently recuperating from the finger injury. Hasan had to also miss out in the Asia Cup. Thus, Hasan had to go under the knife to get his finger operated, as it had got the infection.

On the other hand, Bangladesh is currently led by Mashrafe Mortaza. The fast bowler has also done a fine job in leading the Men in Green with aplomb. Bangladesh had made their way into the final of the Asia Cup. However, they could not go all the way.

“I found Shakib as a brilliant captain to work with, and he is the best tactical captain I have worked with. He has some strengths that I am learning from,” Rhodes said.

Meanwhile, Bangladesh had gone to win all the three One-Dayers against Zimbabwe. Subsequently, the two-match Test series will begin from 3 November at Sylhet International Stadium. Steve Rhodes said Mortaza brings the best out of his players. Mahmuddullah is going to lead Bangladesh in Test matches.

“Mash (Mashrafe Mortaza) is a wonderful guy to work with. He is different from Shakib, and he plays with a lot of passion and pride. Not that Shakib doesn’t, but Mash shows it. He expects a lot from the players and gets a lot out of them as well,” he added.

“Now (Mahmudullah) Riyad is a new captain and my third one. We had a short meeting regarding ideas on selection. I have another meeting with Riyad and the analyst,” Rhodes said when asked about Mahmudullah’s potential as skipper.

Mashrafe Mortaza has led Bangladesh in 96 matches in all the three forms. He has savored success in 49 matches whereas Shakib recorded 27 wins in 75 matches he led. However, Mahmudullah has only captained in four matches in which he has won a solitary contest.
