The Indian cricket fraternity has largely remained silent over the recent political tension between India and Pakistan. While the likes of Shahid Afridi, Javed Miandad and others from Pakistan have not shied away from taking shots at India, the Indian cricketers have decided to focus on their own task rather than making controversial comments.

However, Shikhar Dhawan is definitely a different breed. The feisty India opener always sports a smile on his face but that is not at all an indication of his personality. The Delhi star is a tough customer on the field and rarely gives an opportunity to the opposition. Off the field too, he does the same as he recently admitted that his new hobby is to tweet against Pakistani players.

Speaking on popular talk show Aap ki Adalat, Shikhar Dhawan made it clear that he does not like when anyone takes a swipe at India.

“If someone says something about our country, of course, we will say stand up. We don’t need outsiders to advice us. First fix your own country and then speak about others. There is a saying ‘Jinke ghar kach ka hoh, woh dusro k ghar pathar nahi phekte [People who have glass houses, don’t throw stones at others],” Shikhar Dhawan told DDCA president and the host Rajat Sharma.

Shikhar Dhawan spoke on the topic after Rajat Sharma reminded him about his old tweet. Last year, Dhawan had given a fitting reply to Shahid Afridi after the latter’s tweet on Kashmir.

“Appalling and worrisome situation ongoing in the Indian Occupied Kashmir. Innocents being shot down by oppressive regime to clamp voice of self -determination, and independence. Wonder where are the UN and other international bodies and why aren’t they making efforts to stop this bloodshed?,” Afridi had tweeted.

Dhawan was quick to hit back at Afridi, writing:

“Pehle khudke desh ki haalat sudharo. Apni soch apne paas rakho. Apne desh ka joh hum kar rahe hai woh acha hi hai aur aage jo karna hai woh humein ache se pata hai. Zyaada dimaag mat lagao (Improve the state of affairs in your country first. Keep your views to yourself. Whatever we are doing in our country is good for us and we know what we will do in the future too. You do not need to worry about that).”
