The Mumbai-born cricketer grabbed eyeballs with his impeccable display of power-hitting in the Mumbai T20 League and domestic games. He smacked five sixes in a Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy match and also showcased his batting skills for India A against South A and West Indies A.

But Shivam Dube failed to replicate his efforts in his first international series against Bangladesh. The management is currently auditioning for the ICC T20 World Cup to pick their best combination for the tournament in Australia. Dube, who missed out with the bat is hopeful to make it count next time around.

Speaking further on his debut series, Shivam Dube accepted that butterflies were flying in his stomach before his maiden game. However, the senior cricketer helped him ease the nerves. Dube thanked Rohit Sharma among others for being kind and helpful in the last week. The Royal Challengers Bangalore all-rounder spoke about how Ravi Shastri helped him keep his calm.

“I will call it as the pressure of playing for India. But the support staff made me relax and ensured that I don’t feel that pressure. I’m thankful to them. They backed me, Ravi (Shastri) came and said don’t take tension, just play your game. He told me that in a T20 game, sabko padti hai (everyone gets hit). When it’s your day, you will do well but the important thing is how to overcome when it’s not your day. They told me, ‘We are there for you,” Dube concluded.
