India batting legend Sachin Tendulkar reacted to the news of the passing of Australian spin legend Shane Warne. Shane Warne’s management confirmed on March 4, that the leggie had died at the age of 52 in Thailand. His was the second death of an Australian legend as former wicketkeeper Rod Marsh passed away on the morning on March 4 at the age of 74.

Warne made his debut in 1992 for Australia and went on to pick 708 wickets in 145 Tests including a hat-trick. He also picked 293 wickets in 194 ODIs for Australia and was part of the 1999 World Cup-winning Australian team, as he won the Player of the Match awards in the semi-final and final.

Fox Sports was the first to break this sad news of Shane Warne’s passing and revealed that the management of the Australian cricketing legend released a brief statement that he passed away in Koh Samui, Thailand, of a suspected heart attack.

“Shane was found unresponsive in his villa and despite the best efforts of medical staff, he could not be revived. The family requests privacy at this time and will provide further details in due course,” the statement read.

One of Shane Warne’s biggest rivals of his playing days was India’s Sachin Tendulkar as the duo shared lots of battles on the ground and shared an amazing friendship off the field. Tendulkar and Warne even partnered together for a legends T20 series in the United States of America which got an amazing response as they captained one team each.

Everyone still remembers their duel in the 1998 India-Australia Test series in India and the epic Coca Cup series battle the same year. Sachin Tendulkar was obviously shocked at the news of the demise of his good friend and took to social media to pay tribute.

Sachin tweeted: “Shocked, stunned & miserable. Will miss you Warnie. There was never a dull moment with you around, on or off the field. Will always treasure our on field duels & off field banter. You always had a special place for India & Indians had a special place for you. Gone too young!”
