To Play Test Cricket Is A Dream For Me: Shreyas Iyer

Shreyas Iyer has gone from strength to strength as far as his peaking career in limited-overs format is concerned. Iyer is now looking forward to spearheading the formidable Indian batting lineup in the upcoming series with Quinton de Kock-led South Africa before the Mumbaikar dons his captaincy hat for the Delhi Capitals (DC) in the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL).
For the major part of 2019 season, Team India failed to solve the puzzle related to the No. 4 slot — and the issue largely troubled them during the 2019 World Cup, making it one of the reasons of the team’s exit in the semi-finals of the marquee event.
Since exiting the World Cup last year, the team management has given Iyer many opportunities to prove himself and the Mumbai batsman has repaid their faith with strong numbers.

I have grown up playing Red-ball cricket: Shreyas Iyer
Speaking to Cricbuzz, Iyer has labelled receiving a Test call-up as a cliched dream.
Iyer said that he has polished his skill by playing red-ball cricket before revealing that playing the longest and oldest format of the game is nothing but a dream that he hopes to smash soon enough.
“I’ve grown up playing red-ball cricket. Once that is imbibed in you as a cricketer, it is never going to go away. No cricketer, who has spent a good amount of time playing red-ball cricket will ever quit aspiring to play Test cricket,” Iyer said.
Shreyas Iyer sets sights on donning whites for Team India:

“It’s a different feeling. It may sound like a cliche, but playing Test cricket is a dream and I hope it comes true soon. Don’t think it’s just me who thinks that way. Anybody who aspires to play the game at the highest level will always aspire to play Test cricket. Then it’s all about how capable you are,” the Mumbaikar added.
Well, it would be interesting to see whether the new selection panel considers him as the Test prospect.
For the record, Iyer has done exceptionally well in the red-ball domestic cricket.
