Sourav Ganguly Formally Elected As BCCI President

Former Team India skipper, Sourav Ganguly, on October 23 (Wednesday) was formally elected as the President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). Ganguly won the election unopposed after filing his nomination earlier this month.
Son of Union Home Minister, Jay Shah took over the post of Secretary while Arun Dhumal takes office as treasurer. Dhumal is the younger brother of Minister of State for Finance and former BCCI president Anurag Thakur. Meanwhile, there was no need for elections after days of lobbying that went on before the filing of nominations.
Sourav Ganguly will be able to serve as Bthe CCI president only up to September 2020. He is currently the President of Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) and will have to go into a compulsory cooling-off period.

The former cricketer took over as CAB president in 2015, following the death of his administrative mentor Jagmohan Dalmiya. He wants to follow the same path as Dalmiya did and has already set his priorities which will be on top of his agenda.
“If I achieve what he (Dalmiya) has achieved in terms of administration even 50%, I’ll think have done a great job,” the former India captain had said.

Meanwhile, Sourav Ganguly is the second cricketer after the Maharaja of Vizianagaram to become the president of BCCI. The apex body took to their social media accounts to share the news with the fans and followers.
