Veteran India off-spinner, Harbhajan Singh says former captain, Sourav Ganguly was the best skipper he had played under.

However, Harbhajan Singh made his debut in the international cricket on March 25, 1998, when he played his first Test match against Australia, and he took two wickets in that match. Moreover, he made his ODI debut on April 17, 1998, against New Zealand. Harbhajan managed to pick up one wicket in the game.

Meanwhile, Harbhajan Singh tells Sourav Ganguly was the best captain he had played under.

However, Ganguly took over when India was going through a transition phase. Ganguly backed a lot of youngsters in the team and brought them together as a unit. Moreover, the former skipper allowed the players to express themselves.

Harbhajan also said Ganguly’s manner of treating his players helped them play as a unit, and thus found success.

“Sourav Ganguly. He took over when the team was going through quite a lot – match-fixing scandals and things – and he backed a lot of youngsters and brought the team together. He allowed us to express ourselves, saying it is what we should be doing to win Test matches.” Harbhajan Singh added.

Moreover, Harbhajan Singh was at his peak when he used to play under Sourav Ganguly. The off-spinner became the first India bowler to take a hat-trick in Tests under the leadership of Ganguly only.

However, Harbhajan Singh played 103 Test matches for his nation. He bagged with 417 wickets with an economy rate of 2.84. His best bowling figures were 8/84 in an innings and 15/217 in a match. Moreover, Harbhajan picked up 269 wickets from 236 ODI games for India. His best bowling figures were 5/31. Harbhajan also played few T20Is for India.
