The introduction of the Indian Premier League (IPL) has changed the face of Indian cricket forever. Another exciting season is on the cards with all franchises picking their best possible squads from the recently-concluded auctions. So far, the cash-rich league has produced some stellar performers, and former India skipper Sourav Ganguly has recently named his fantasy IPL team.

The current BCCI President made some surprising choices while picking the squad during an event in Kolkata. Sourav Ganguly snubbed MS Dhoni one of the most successful skippers to have played in the competition. Dhoni has led Chennai Super Kings to three IPL titles and has a rich history as a cricket. Ganguly proposed himself as the skipper of the side while he went with young Rishabh Pant as the wicket-keeper.

Ganguly picked Rohit Sharma as his opening partner and named devastating duo of Virat Kohli and David Warner to complete the top-order. Andre Russell and Riyan Parag were the all-rounders in Sourav Ganguly’s fantasy IPL team while Ravindra Jadeja was picked as the lone spinner. In the pace department, Ganguly selected Marcus Stoinis, Jofra Archer and Jasprit Bumrah.

Speaking about not picking MS Dhoni, Sourav Ganguly said it was a fun thing and was done for entertainment purpose. He also refused to entertain any further debate on the same.

“It’s purely for fun, to entertain all. Pant is a young wicketkeeper-batsman. I don’t want any debate for it,” Sourav Ganguly said as quoted by Extra Time.
