Sreesanth Feels Relieved As His Seven-Year Ban Nears The End

S Sreesanth’s faced a life ban from all forms of cricket in 2013 for his alleged involvement in spot-fixing in the sixth edition of IPL when he was part of Rajasthan Royals. Along with Sreesanth, Ajit Chandila and Ankeet Chavan were slapped with the same fate. However, last year, the BCCI reduced the same to seven years, which means that on the 13th of September, his exile will come to an end.

BCCI ombudsman retd. Justice DK Jain was responsible for reducing Sreesanth’s ban. It was back in 2011 that the 37-year old played his final international game, which was a Test against England at the Oval. So far, he has played in 27 Tests, 53 ODIs, and 10 T20 internationals. The speedster has revealed to be working quite hard on his training and staying mentally strong. Sreesanth has expressed his desire to represent India in the next 50-over World Cup.

Sreesanth said that it is a rejoice after seven long years as his ban nears the end. He added that he could now officially start preparing for matches, thanking the media and fans for all the support handed to him throughout.

After seven long years, it is a day to rejoice. I can now officially start training and practice to play the matches. Thanks a lot for all the love and media I have been given. It meant a lot to me,” he told over a phone call as quoted by BDcrictime.

Sreesanth continued that by God’s grace, lots of players by family, friends, and all closed ones, he feels entirely humbled and motivated. The Kerala fast bowler aims to maintain the same and give his best on return.

By God’s grace and lots of prayers of my family and dear ones, including media, I feel humbled and motivated. I will give my very best to every moment and keep at it,” the veteran added.
