Steve Smith Reveals "Winning A Test Series In India" As His Major Ambition

It is fair to say that one of the biggest challenges in Test cricket currently is to beat India in their own backyard. India have always been a tough side to beat in their home conditions but under the leadership of Virat Kohli, they have transformed into a ruthless juggernaut.
Since England’s historic 2-1 triumph in the winter of 2012-13, India is yet to lose a Test series on home soil. Their record under Virat Kohli is even more imperious. Since Kohli took over the reins of the side in the winter of 2014-15, the Men in Blue have lost just one Test at home, winning 22 out of the 28 five-day games with a barely believable Win/Loss ratio of 22.0.
That solitary defeat came against the Steve Smith-led Australians in Pune during the 2017 four-match series, and the former Aussie captain, who played a pivotal role in that heist has now declared that one of his biggest ambitions is to possibly beat India in their own den.
“I would love to win a Test series in India I think as an Australian cricketer we talk about like Ashes is always big, World Cup is big but I think now India is no.1 team in the world and it is a very difficult place to play Test cricket, so I would love to win a series there,” Steve Smith said in a chat with Ish Sodhi in a session arranged by Rajasthan Royals on their Facebook page.

Steve Smith’s burning ambition: To win a Test series in India
Australia pulled off a major coup during their 2017 tour of India when they beat India by 333 runs in the first Test on a raging turner in Pune. Steven O’Keefe’s 12-70 and Smith’s masterclass in the second innings was the prime reason behind that win, and even though India came back to win the series 2-1, it still remains one of Australia’s best performance in the subcontinent in recent times.
