Virat Kohli has impinged himself as one of the greatest-ever batsmen to have featured in the 50-over format of the game.

And, he achieved that via astounding consistency, by constantly pushing the bar when it comes to the level of performances, and of-course by scripting some of the most memorable run-chases that one has ever seen.

Kohli recently added another feather to his cap in the recently concluded three-match ODI series as he leapfrogged Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar to become the fastest to 12000 runs.

The Indian captain became just the 6th batsmen in the history of ODI cricket to join the 12000-run-club. He achieved the feat in a mere 242 innings as compared to Sachin Tendulkar, who achieved the same in 300 innings.

Virat Kohli is also the fastest to rack up 8000, 9000, 10000, and 11000 ODI runs. He has 43 hundreds against his name and he just needs seven more to leapfrog Sachin Tendulkar as the all-time century-maker in 50-over cricket.

Kohli has scripted some of the most memorable victories with his bat, especially in a run-chase, and it is for this reason Little Master Sunil Gavaskar has picked him as the most impactful Indian cricketer in the format this decade ahead of stalwarts like Rohit Sharma and MS Dhoni.

“I think if you look as an individual, then certainly it”s got to be Virat Kohli, because if you look at the number of matches he”s won for India when India has been chasing big scores,” Sunil Gavaskar said on Star Sports show ”cricket connected”.

“I look at the impact a player has had, and not just the runs or wickets that he has taken, and in that aspect, you have got to say that in this decade it really has been Virat Kohli who has had the most impact on the matches that India has won.” he added.

Virat Kohli has been nominated as one of the contenders for the ICC ‘ODI Player Of The Decade’ alongside fellow teammates Rohit Sharma and MS Dhoni.
