T10 League: Twitter Lauds Hasan Ali For Stunning Spell

In a game where other bowlers were finding it tough even to deliver a dot ball, Hasan Ali bowled a stunning spell of 4 for just 7 but the Pakistan pace spearhead’s heroics went in vain as Bengal Tigers defeated Punjabi Legends in a thrilling encounter in the third game of the T10 League on Friday (December 15).

Misbah-ul-Haq’s decision to bat first was not justified early on by the Legends openers as Luke Ronchi was sent back by Merchant de Lange for just 9. However, Umar Akmal and Shoaib Malik proved their skipper’s decision right by sharing a 71-run stand off just 31 balls. The dangerous stand was broken when Aamer Yamin castled Malik for 30.

Malik’s departure, meanwhile, derailed Legends’ innings as they lost wickets in clusters and managed to score only 19 runs off the last 22 balls. Yamin was the pick of the bowlers for Tigers, conceding just 11 off his two overs in addition to breaking the dangerous Akmal-Malik partnership.

The late collapse did not affect the Legends’ momentum as Hasan Ali rocked the Tigers by dismissing Cameron Delport and Dwayne Bravo cheaply before Carlos Brathwaite accounted for captain Sarfraz Ahmed to reduce the Tigers to 40 for 4. Darren Sammy and David Miller then steadied the ship by sharing a 22-run stand before Hasan Ali put his side on top by dismissing both the batsmen in quick succession. But just when it looked the Legends would walk away with the full points, Tigers’ lower-order batsmen Anwar Ali (14 off 6), Aamer Yamin (18 off 5) and Mohammad Naveed (11 off 5) played handy knocks to take their team home with four balls remaining.
