David Warner, on Saturday, wrote his name in the record books after scoring his maiden Test triple century in the ongoing second Test against Australia at Adelaide. The triple century by Warner is the first by an Australia since former captain Michael Clarke hit 329 not out against India India in January 2012. Also, Warner’s triple ton is first in international cricket since Karun Nair’s 303* vs England in December 2016.

Warner’s score is now the highest individual score at the Adelaide Oval surpassing Don Bradman’s 299. Australia declared their innings just after Warner went past the highest Test scores of Don Bradman and Mark Taylor (334). Warner’s 335* is now the 2nd highest individual Test score by an Australian behind Matthew Hayden’s 380 against Zimbabwe.

With Pakistan bowlers failing to cause any trouble to Warner, the southpaw was looking well set to break Hayden’s record and even Brian Lara’s 400. However, the Australian team-management once again kept the team’s interest ahead of the individual as Tim Paine declared on a mammoth 589 for 3.

Warner completed his triple century off 389 balls which is the fourth fastest triple hundred ever in the history of Test cricket. India’s Virender Sehwag holds the record for the fastest triple hundred ever, having reached the milestone off just 278 balls against South Africa in Chennai in 2007-08. Australia, meanwhile, will be looking to register yet another big victory. The hosts have already taken an unassailable 1-0 lead in the two-match series after winning the series-opener by an innings and five runs.

No patience?

It would not be very wrong to say that Warner must have left many surprised with the patience and composure he showed during his knock. The left-handed batsman is not known for his patience which is quite important to play a big knock in Tests. And an old tweet from Warner has proved that he too doubted his patience.

As soon as Warner reached his triple century, one of his old tweets started doing the rounds on Twitter where he laughed off a request from a fan who asked him to score a triple ton in Tests.
