Every single person on this planet dreams to see their name in the Guinness Book of World Records by doing something they are good at.
However, only a few of them have been able to occupy a prominent spot in such a prestigious list.
The game of cricket has also found some positions on this coveted list, with many players being awarded this honour because of their skills and stern attitude.
The skill-set and the unique qualities of these players have helped them to get into the most acclaimed book towards them. Moreover, three Indian players also have their name in the Guinness Book of World Records. Let us take a look at those three cricketers:
Raja Maharaj Singh (Oldest FC Player)
The governor of Bombay, Raja Maharaj Singh realised his love for cricket quite late but eventually fulfilled his dream. Hailing from a Kathpura Royal Family, he made his First-Class debut at the age of 72 Years to claim a record and write his name with golden letters in the history of cricket.
He represented Governor’s XI against the Commonwealth XI. Maharaj Singh, who was leading the Governor’s XI, came out to bat at no nine on Day 1. However, he had to go back to the pavilion soon, as he got caught at the first slip on the score of just four runs.
Following his dismissal, he did not take the field for the rest of the match, as Yadavindra Singh led the team in his absence.
MS Dhoni (most expensive bat)
The former Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni is one of the record-holders on this list because of the Reebok willow, with which he hit the winning six in the finals of the 2011 Cricket World Cup.
Later at an event named “East meets West,” organized by Dhoni at London (UK), R.K. global shares bought the bat at a mouth-watering amount of £100,000 ($161,295).
The fund went for the development of Dhoni’s wife’s charitable organization, Sakshi Foundation. The foundation works for underprivileged children in India.
Virag Mare (Longest net session)
The 24-year old managed to register his name in the Guinness Book of World Records on 24th December 2015. The cricketer holds the record for the longest individual net-session in the history of cricket.
He batted for three days and two nights to break the previous record. Playing at the Mahalaxmi Lawns in Karve Nagar, Mare started his net session on December 22 and faced 2,447 overs, 14,682 balls in exactly 50 hours, five minutes and 51 seconds.
Further, he broke the previous record of Dave Newman and Richard Wells who batted for 48 hours.
Previously, Virag Mare used to run a Vada Pav stall for his survival, however, shifted from Mumbai to Pune in an attempt to sustain his cricket career.
