The South African superstar finds a place in the chart. Gibbs was an opening batsman of South Africa who changed the way south African openers used to play initial overs. He was a part of 434 run chase and also gave many flying opening partnerships. One of the best qualities of him is that Gibbs always kept team before him.

Herschelle Gibbs’ ability and craving for flamboyance has been unique in international cricket. Underneath his will to capture thoughts, he is a cricketer whose adaptability has convincingly seen him through the game’s changing phases.

He played 361 matches for South Africa, in which, he registered 11 90+ scores. Herschelle Gibbs ended his career with 35 centuries to his name during his tenure of 14 years.

The flamboyant batsman Nathan Astle was one of the most underrated cricketers in the world cricket hailing from New Zealand. He was a complete package as a cricketer. Astle made his international Test debut against Zimbabwe in January 1996.

However, it was during the tour of West Indies that Astle began to assert himself as a batsman of the highest calibre. Two centuries on that tour bracketed him to be amongst one of the better batsmen for New Zealand.

When Astle retired, he was New Zealand’s best ODI batsman. He was second in terms of runs scored but had scored ten more ODI centuries than the next batsman in the list. It would have been even more if he wasn’t dismissed for 11 times in nervous nineties. In total, he played 308 matches and scored 27 centuries.

The stylish southpaw is one of the best opening batsmen the world has ever witnessed. He completely changed the way of batting in opening overs. Hayden was Australia’s backbone in all the three formats. He was the most consistent for his country. Not only was he consistent but, given his imposing frame, he could easily muscle any bowling attack to shreds. By far the most important Australian opener ever.

He also failed to convert the 90s into centuries 11 times in his career. The flamboyant cricketer played 273 matches and scored 40 centuries in his career.

In an era where batsmen muscle the ball around the park, Kane Williamson stands out with his silken touch and class. In his early 20s, he has already established himself in the New Zealand side across formats and is counted amongst the best young batsmen in the world.

Kane Williamson’s stature rose after his great innings in WC Semi-Final against South Africa and now all cricket lovers know the price of Kane Williamson’s wicket in Tests or ODIs. He is currently leading New Zealand across the formats.

However, much like many stalwart cricketers, Kane Williamson failed to cross those 90s in his career for 11 times so far.

The Pakistan batsman Inzamam was one of the best cricketers to play for their country. A country, which is famously known for delivering fast bowlers, has delivered a strong batsman in the form of Inzamam-Ul-Haq.

With a magical willow and thumping effect, Inzamam scored at a prolific rate all throughout his career. Be it against the fast bowlers or against a spin attack, Inzamam was gifted with amazing footwork and placement skills.

He also failed to convert the 90s into centuries 12 times in his career. The flamboyant cricketer played 499 matches and scored 35 centuries in his career.

5. Ricky Ponting – 13

One of the best batsmen, whom cricket has ever seen. He was an asset for Australia, who mastered the art of batting. Ponting made his international debut in 1995 in an ODI match against South Africa and also made his Test debut the same year. He played alongside legends like Steve Waugh, Shane Warne, Brett Lee and Adam Gilchrist to name a few.

Ricky Ponting had all the ingredients of a typical Australian – tough, aggressive, vocal and above all, mentally powerful to tackle pressure situations. Besides his batting, Ponting is known for his leadership skills.

He also failed to convert the 90s into centuries 13 times in his career. The flamboyant cricketer played 560 matches and scored 71 centuries in his career.

Undoubtedly, Jacques Kallis remains the most complete all-rounder of his time. No other player has fused batting and bowling ability and consistently performed for a decade and a half’s stretch in multiple forms of the game as Kallis has.

He was one of the greatest Test batsmen of his era — a period that saw Sachin Tendulkar, Brian Lara and Ricky Ponting. And also, his bowling is by no means a minor arrow in his quiver, but a weapon always potent and sometimes destructive.

Perhaps the greatest all-rounder of all time and certainly the best in recent times, Jacques Kallis’ stats in all forms of the game makes for jaw-dropping stuff. He appeared in 519 games and scored 62 centuries by missing 13 times.

Because of nervous nineties, the man who led Team India to many memorable victories could not score a century 14 time across the formats. Rahul always played with a defensive mindset and became even more defensive when he reached the 90s. Perhaps, that could be the reason behind it.

Rahul Dravid is known as ‘The Wall’ of Test cricket. He was known for spending the long duration at the crease. He holds the record for the highest number of balls faced and the highest number of minutes spent at the crease in test cricket.

However, he scored 48 centuries during his cricketing career. It spanned 509 matches during 1996-2012.

2. AB de Villiers – 14

AB de Villiers recently announced his retirement from all forms of international cricket. He is arguably one of the greatest cricketers to ever play this sport. He was known for his wide range of shots which helped him destroy the bowlers on any surface.

De Villiers who has appeared in 114 test matches for South Africa has scored 8675 runs at an average of 50.66. He has scored 22 centuries and 46 half-centuries.

The great of the game failed to convert the 90s into centuries for 14 times during his career.  He appeared in 519 matches and scored 69 Centuries.

Sachin Tendulkar is the one, who introduced nervous nineties to the game of cricket. He used to find a way for himself to get out in the nervous 90s. There were times when fans used to pray to wish God to get Sachin Tendulkar those 10 runs, as they couldn’t see master blaster walking away disappointingly.

Sachin Tendulkar is widely acclaimed as the greatest cricketer of all time by pundits and fans all around the world. He is the highest run-getter in both ODIs and Test cricket. Sachin got out on a very high number of occasions in the 90s in ODIs and tests.

However, he is the one, who scored the most number of centuries in International Cricket than any other. He called curtains after scoring 100 centuries in International cricket.
