Kieron Pollard Breaches ICC Code of Conduct:

Windies all-rounder Kieron Pollard had faced a 20 per cent fee apart from a demerit point for disobeying on-field umpire’s instructions.

Pollard had breached Article 2.4 of the ICC’s regulations. The incident had unfolded during the second T20I when Pollard had called substitute on the field.

However, despite umpires suggesting Pollard wait for until the next over, Pollard had not obeyed. Thus, the 32-year-old had also denied the offence which saw him attending the formal hearing from match referee Jeff Crowe.

ICC Test Rankings: Steven Smith Moves to No. 3:

Following back-to-back hundreds in the Ashes opener at Edgbaston, Steven Smith had jumped a spot after being on the fourth position on the ICC Test batting rankings.

Smith had slammed 144 followed by 142 at Edgbaston which also saw him overtaking India’s Cheteshwar Pujara. Thus, he has closed in on Virat Kohli and Kane Williamson respectively.

On the other side, the prominent off-spinner Nathan Lyon had moved six places to 13th spot following a spectacular show in Birmingham.

Faf du Plessis to Lead South Africa in Tests Against India:

The interim Cricket South Africa (CSA) team director Corrie Van Zyl has revealed that Faf du Plessis will continue as Proteas Test leader during India’s three-match Test series.

The Test series will commence from October 2 in Visakhapatnam.

Also, Van Zyl addressed that they will also focus on the 2023 World Cup while considering the change of the guard in the white-ball format.

Justin Langer Hails Steven Smith Following Edgbaston Show:

Australia head coach Justin Langer, who had earlier praised Virat Kohli for his remarkable consistency, now effusively praised Steven Smith’s character and the way he has batted during the Ashes opener in Birmingham.

Also, Langer has reiterated that Smith is playing at another level.

Pertinently, Smith is making a comeback to Test cricket since 2018 Cape Town Test which also saw him facing 12-month ban for the ball-tampering scandal.

Darren Gough Lashes Out at James Anderson:

England’s veteran fast bowler Darren Gough has blasted James Anderson by saying that the latter is chasing 600-Test wickets.

Gough has blamed Anderson while adding he should not have rushed himself in a bid to look at his personal milestone.

Meanwhile, Anderson has been ruled out for the second Ashes Test after struggling with his calf issue. So far, he has played 149 Tests to snare 575 Test scalps. He has 27 five-wicket hauls to his name.
