Indian Women’s Cricket Team whitewashed England and won a thriller at the Lord’s. The 3rd ODI match proved to be a fascinating contest as both the teams were not ready to surrender. This was a farewell series of the veteran Pacer Jhulan Goswami who bid adieu to International Cricket.
India Women gave England a below-par total of 170 runs to chase. It looked as if the Britishers would hunt down the target quite easily as chasing 170 isn’t a big task in the modern era where a couple of decent partnerships are enough to win the match.
India Women didn’t expect that the match would be a thriller; earlier they took 7 wickets for 65 runs. England Women somehow rebuild their innings but they were looking in two minds about whether to attack or defend. Renuka Singh was the pick of the bowlers who took 4 wickets and gave away 29 runs in her spell. India eventually won the match by 16 runs and silenced all the outside noise who were criticizing the team for their T20I series performance.
Deepti Sharma Mankads Dean Charlotte
England Women’s Team were cruising to victory as they required 17 runs to win from 7 overs. Captain Harmanpreet Kaur gave the ball to Deepti Sharma who was bowling tight lines & lengths and all of sudden on the 3rd ball of the over, she ran out of Charlotte Dean at the non-striker end. The bowler was in her action which meant that it was not an unfair way to dismiss the batter
This way of getting rid of the batter has been quite controversial, but according to the laws of the sport, it’s a legal way. India Women would be over the moon as whitewashing Britishers in their own backyard is never an easy thing to do.
Here’s how Twitter Reacted to the Victory & Mankad
It’s a legal dismissal. The only thing against the spirit of the game here is the batter trying to gain an unfair advantage. Well done, Deepti Sharma. #EngvInd

Deepti Sharma has put Ganguly's celebration to the back seat. That is how you win a game at Lord's.

Credit to Deepti Sharma for making the entire contingent of English male cricketers talk about a women's match at length. 😀
