Cameron Green, an Australian all-rounder, was always going to be a sought-after purchase at the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 mini-auction.
The Australian prospect did not disappoint, igniting a bidding battle before being purchased by the five-time champion Mumbai Indians for Rs 17.5 crore, making him the second-highest purchase in IPL auction history behind England’s Sam Curran.

Cameron Green To Join Tim David At Mumbai Indians
The Australian, age 23, will now play for MI with players like Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, Dewald Brevis, Jasprit Bumrah, and Tim David. The bids immediately increased to Rs 7 crore after being first launched by the Royal Challengers Bangalore, but MI entered the contest right away.
After RCB withdrew, Delhi Capitals and MI quickly entered the bidding and raised the price to Rs 15 crore. It didn’t take long for Cameron Green to surpass the Rs 16.5 crore record, which was previously held by South African all-rounder Chris Morris until being broken on Friday by Sam Curran (December 23).

When the bidding ultimately finished, MI won with a winning price of Rs 17.5 crore, narrowly missing Curran’s goal. West Indies all-rounder Kieron Pollard, who announced his retirement from the IPL earlier this year, has been identified as Green’s replacement.
