IND vs SA: Twitter Reacts As Rishabh Pant Misses Out On Maiden ODI Century

Indian wicket-keeper batter Rishabh Pant played his best knock in ODIs but couldn’t convert it into his maiden century. He had a great opportunity having been promoted to No. 4 but his aggressive nature resulted in his downfall.
During the second ODI against South Africa, India found itself in trouble after a good start. They lost both Shikhar Dhawan and Virat Kohli in successive overs before the captain, KL Rahul and Pant began to rebuild the innings.

Joining hands at 64/2, it was Pant who took the role of the aggressor as expected and played a thrilling counter-attacking knock. Rahul on the other hand took the responsibility on himself to hold down the fort at the other end.
Pant took a liking to the South African spin duo of Keshav Maharaj and Tabraiz Shamsi, constantly trying to put them off their length by dancing down the pitch. He scored two massive sixes in his knock along with ten fours and looked set for his maiden ODI hundred.

Unfortunately, India once again lost wickets in successive overs. First, it was Rahul who lost concentration after a drinks break before Pant’s adventurous innings was brought to an end by Shamsi. He holed out in the long-on region while trying to deposit the ball over mid-wicket.
Nevertheless, Pant’s entertaining knock ensured that India kept the scoreboard ticking. With the fall of Pant, however, a familiar middle-order collapse loomed largely.
Here’s how Twitter reacted to Rishabh Pant’s enterprising knock:
