IND vs SL: Twitter Reacts As Shreyas Iyer Plays A Remarkable 92-run Knock On Tough Batting Surface In Bengaluru

Indian middle-order batsman Shreyas Iyer played an extraordinary knock in the second Test match of the two-match Test series against Sri Lanka National Cricket Team at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Saturday, March 12.
Iyer, who has been in sensational form recently, came out to bat after former Indian captain Virat Kohli got out and India were struggling at 86 for 4 after losing the wickets of Rohit Sharma, Mayank Agarwal, Hanuma Vihari and Kohli.

The veteran Indian batters were seen struggling against the Sri Lanka spinners on the spin-friendly surface in the pink-ball Test match but Iyer looked in a completely different league.
Shreyas Iyer, who many believe is one of the best batters in the world against spin bowling, batted brilliantly on the tough batting surface and reached the 50-run milestone off just 54 balls. Also, he reached the half-century milestone by smashing a monstrous six.
He took full advantage of the opportunities he got but was unable to score his second Test century. Iyer had a good opportunity to become only the third Indian player after Virat Kohli and Smriti Mandhana to smash a century in pink-ball Test but he fell just 8 runs short of a well-deserved century.
Overall, he was able to score 92 runs off 98 balls, including 10 incredible fours and 4 amazing sixes and he batted with a good strike rate of 93.88. Shreyas Iyer was the last batsman to get dismissed in the first innings of India. Iyer became 23-year-old Sri Lanka spinner Praveen Jayawickrama’s third wicket.
Jayawickrama came to bowl the 60th over and on the first ball Iyer came running down the track to play the shot but the spinner changed his trajectory which led to Iyer missing the shot and Sri Lanka wicket-keeper Dickwella made no mistake in the stumping.
Also, Shreyas Iyer was applauded by the Bengaluru crowd as he walked back to the dugout. Iyer also became the 4th Indian batter to get stumped in the 90s in Test cricket after, D Vengsarkar, Sachin Tendulkar, and Virender Sehwag.

Shreyas Iyer's 92 is a great knock on a tough pitch. At 20, in the Ranji Trophy 2014/15 he got 75 v UP on a tough pitch at Kanpur. It was an important knock for Shreyas as he had a slow start to his FC career. Never looked back since that day.Hope he is a regular in the Test team
