'Your Fund Will Be Used In Election Campaigns'- Fans On Twitter Bash Pat Cummins For Donating $50000 To PM Cares Fund

Australian pacer Pat Cummins, on Monday, announced that he will be donating $50000 to the PM Cares Fund in India to help the Indian government combat the worsening COVID-19 situation in India. Notably, Pat Cummins is currently in India, plying his trade for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the Indian Premier League (IPL 2021).
IPL 2021 began on April 09 this year amidst the pandemic that has now struck India with thousands of cases and a lack of resources. Clearly, the Government of India was caught off-guard when the COVID-19 pandemic came along with its second wave in the country. The poor state of health infrastructure across the country is for the world to see now and many nations have offered help to India.
While IPL 2021 proves to be a major distraction for people in such crunching times, there is a sense of fear among overseas cricketers of being trapped by the virus and some of them have even flown back to their countries citing personal reasons.
Twitter Bashes Pat Cummins For Donating Funds To The PM Cares Fund
In such a time where other cricketers are thoughtful of their lives and their families, Australian pacer Pat Cummins came up with a very noble idea of donating $50000 towards the PM Cares Fund. He made the announcement via Twitter on Monday stating that he will be donating the sum to PM Cares Fund and he has also urged his fellow cricketers to do the same.
Here are the Twitter reactions:
Thank you Pat. You're a great guy. Just that don't put the money in PM Cares. Repeated RTIs have led to the open announcement that it's not accountable to anyone and any funds allocation won't be disclosed. Pls donate to any of the other numerous charities that are accountable.

Why would you pay to pmcares? He is already not sharing that money with people. It is a private fund with no auditing

Great gesture, but it's a terrible mistake to donate money to “PM Cares Fund”. It's unaudited, unaccounted and non-transparent (No info provided by GOI), and is being used by the BJP for its election rallies.@GiveIndia, @UNICEF, @Hemkunt_Fdn, etc., are the right places to donate!

Pat, You are great. Just that better to give to a hospital as PM Cares is a dicey place. They had over a billion dollars yet did nothing

PM cares fund are specifically used by BJP to purchase MLAs from opposition party and to pay the cost of Modi's beard oil.

Pat Cummins Brings A Ray Of Hope For Other Cricketers To Follow
Although there is a lack of transparency regarding the PM Cares Fund, it is certain that Pat Cummins has come up with a very noble idea and other cricketers who mint money from the IPL should definitely follow it. Cummins’ intention clearly portrays the fact that he loves India, a country that has brought him joy on multiple occasions.
In such a deteriorating system, when the country’s own superstars and cricketers are busy in the glitz and glam of their personal lives, Cummins comes as an example of how not to turn a blind eye towards the deplorable situation that India is in, right now.
There can certainly be a debate on whether to donate to the PM Cares Fund or not, but the fact that an overseas cricketer is much more concerned for our nation than our own idols goes on to show that his decision must be respected. It also reiterates that it’s high time for us as a country to realize who we chose our role models to be.
