Twitter Reacts, As India Go One Up Against Australia In The Five Match ODI Series
Updated - 19 May 2019, 04:26 PM
Team India started their home season with a huge victory over the Australian team at Chepauk in Chennai on Sunday in a rain-affected encounter via D/L method.
Virat Kohli won the toss earlier in the day and opted to bat on a track that was damp and expected to assist the bowlers later in the game. The visitors started their campaign with three quick wickets leaving India in jitters but former India captain MS Dhoni and all-rounder Hardik Pandya steadied the ship for the hosts.
Pandya’s blitz and Dhoni’s calmness gave the Men in Blue a respectable total on the board as they set a target of 282 for Steve Smith-led side. Just as the duo of Warner and Cartwright were about to come out to bat, rain started to make its presence felt and there was a delay which led to a shortened game.
The revised target for Australia was set by the D/L Method (164 runs in 21 overs). Jasprit Bumrah cleaned up Hilton Cartwright who had a forgettable debut with the bat, Australian captain too couldn’t contribute much, as he was dismissed after an extraordinary take by Bumrah.
Glenn Maxwell tried his best and smashed 22 runs in an over from Kuldeep Yadav but Yuzvendra Chahal picked up the big show and then it was just a matter of time before India take a lead of 1-0 in the five-match ODI series.
In the end, Virat Kohli’s team managed an easy 26-run victory and have taken the lead in the five-match one-day series.
Here are the best tweets of the day on India’s victory:
Next IPL auction: Maxwell and Hardik Pandya in same team.
IPL: They find their range while chasing 18 an over.

Good to see the faith in Kuldeep Yadav. But afraid Stoinis wasn't reading either him or Chahal

Hardik can't do a thing wrong. Smith is a big wicket. Great catch by Bumrah, running backwards not easy. #INDvAUS
